Game review: Colossus rules!
Saturday, March 4th, 2006Just finish playing Sony Entertainment’s Shadow of the Colossus. It’s a freakin’ awesome game, man. One of the best fantasy games I’ve ever laid my hands on since God of War.
Though some people might not get it or find it dull, well, guess what, they are sooo wrong, just because there isn’t any bashing and clashing the enemies, the game stick to its original concept and spawn a different gameplay. It’s also a thinking game. A thinking action game! It’s like a small guy versus a titan type of game. It blends with unique concept and meaningful storyline. Plus, the gameplay graphics is just as stunning, though it’s not made in CGI(Computer Generated Image) but in low-poly animation. For the sake of the gameplay, it has to use low-poly, even the cinematics. Maybe the CG people might get this. Anyway, don’t admire the hero, he’s not the center of the attraction in the game, it’s the 16 colossuses you have to gloat upon! Ha-ha.
The story starts off with a hero wanderer, Wander and his horse, Agro. In his arms he carries the dead body of his beloved. The duo set off and brought themselves to a deserted fantasy land where the 16 colossus inhabited. They came upon a great temple and Wander, requested the great light of the temple to reincarnate the life of his beloved. Of course you know, the great light will not help for free. He told Wander in order to so, the hero must complete a certain task, that is defeating the 16 magnificent colossuses.
Players must interact and control Wander, help him to complete the tasks. Then the hero shall fulfill his wish and the player will get to see a climax ending as their rewards! haha.
So people, players, fantasy lovers! Play the game, I promise you will have the time of your gaming life!
Rating: 5/5 stars. Excellent.
